I have a lot of fun writing explainers of interesting math and computer facts I find in KaTeX. These aren't exactly at the level of a research paper, they are more meant to explain things to a hypothetical eager student.
Completed programming projects for which I am the sole author. Most of these were pointless side projects that I messed around with for a weekend or two. They are distributed as .tar.xz files.
